Accomplishments
Large Group Performance Evaluation: Rome High School Choral ensembles consistently receive superior ratings in performance and sight-reading at local and out-of-state festivals.
2013: The RHS Chorus received the top award of Best Overall High School Choir at the Music in the Parks Festival held near Kings Dominion in Virginia. The group also received first place in their division and superior ratings. Kadison Beaver, James Douglas, Corbett Floyd, Zach Kinsey, and Dylan Horne were also recognized for Best Accompanying Ensemble. The RHS Chorus also performed several selections at the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC and toured the nation's capital. New Record for RHS: Thirty-seven students were selected for Georgia All-state Chorus. Once again, Rome High School had the third highest number of students selected from any school in the entire state of GA. Eleven students were selected for Georiga All-state Reading Chorus (tied with the RHS record set last year). At the 5-AAAAA Region Literary Competition, the RHS Boys' Soloist (Kyle Huey) and the RHS Boys' Quartet (James Douglas, Avery Harris, Zach Kinsey, and Matthew Nedvin) placed first in the region. The RHS Boys' Quartet went on to claim first place at the State AAAAA Literary Competition as well. The RHS Girls' Soloist (Diana Romo) and the RHS Girls' Trio (Whitney Davis, Tessa Howard, and Kristan Mayo) placed second in the region 5-AAAAA competition.
2012: Thirty-six students were selected for Georgia All-state Chorus. Rome High School had the third highest number of students selected from any school in the entire state of GA. Another new record: Eleven students were selected for Georiga All-state Reading Chorus, the top number of students selected from schools across GA. At the 7-AAAA Region Literary Competition, our girls' soloist (Parker Van Riper) placed second, our boys' quartet (Peter Clay, Zach Kinsey, Matthew Nedvin, and Michael Nedvin) placed third, and our boys' soloist (Matthew Nedvin) placed fourth.

The Boys' Quartet (Jacob Bowman, Peter Clay, Charlie Langlois, and Andrew Smathers) won second place at the 7-AAAA Region Literary Competition. Andrew Smathers also placed second at the region level in the category of boy's solo.

New RHS record: RHS Girls' Trio (Hannah Campbell, Jerica Maisonet, and Anna Stuart) won first place at the State AAAA Literary Competition and RHS Boys' Soloist (Andrew Smathers) won third place at state. The Boys' Quartet (Jacob Bowman, Jackson Hodges, Charlie Langlois, and Andrew Smathers) won second place at the 7-AAAA Region Literary Competition. Andrew Smathers was selected for the Governor's Honors Program in the area of voice.
2009: RHS Girls' Soloist (Sarah Godfrey) placed third and RHS Boys' Soloist (Andrew Smathers) placed fourth at the State AAAA Literary Competition. The Boys' Quartet (Jacob Bowman, Jackson Hodges, Charlie Langlois, and Andrew Smathers) won second place at the 7-AAAA Region Literary Competition. Eleven students were selected for All-State Chorus and five students were selected for All-State Reading Chorus.
2008: The Chorale was awarded First Place in the category of Mixed Choir and overall winner of the Universal Orlando Music Showcase Festival. New RHS record: RHS Boys' Quartet (Charlie Langlois, Caleb Lewis, Ben Poplin, and Andrew Smathers) won first place at the State AAAA Literary Competition. Ten students were selected for All-State Chorus and four students were selected for All-State Reading Chorus.
2007: Women's Ensemble earned superior ratings at Carowinds Music Festival in North Carolina. Four students were selected for All-State Chorus and two students were selected for All-State Reading Chorus.
